Timed to coincide with World Book Day, we collaborate with local primary schools to offer children a range of fun events to foster an early love of literacy and books.  We also run a free to enter creative writing competition alongside the festival which all primary school children in Corby and the surrounding villages can take part in.

The Brothers McLeod

Thursday 4th March

Sublime daftness, adventure and hilarity for Year 2

The Brothers McLeod are illustrator Greg and writer Myles. They make books and cartoons - they've even worked on shows like Shaun the Sheep and Hey Duggee. They won a BAFTA for their animations in 2011 and have been nominated for four other BAFTA Awards. They have worked with Aardman Animations, Disney, Milkshake!, and the Royal Shakespeare Company.

https://www.bromc.uk/ https://www.knightsirlouis.com/

Greg and Myles will run a workshop inspired by their Knight Sir Louis book series, with a reading, a draw-along, and a chance for the children to create new characters and a six panel comic!

Knight Sir Louis is the champion knight at Castle Sideways, and the bravest of all knights in all lands. Braver than Knight Sir Colin in the bogs of Wattasmel. Braver than Knight Sir Barbara in the mountains of Itso-Hy. Even braver than Knight Sir Gary from the soggy lands of Tippinitdown. But Louis is modest. He says he’s not brave, but just good at staying calm when everyone else is going completely bonkers. A fantastic series with seven titles perfect for 6-9 year olds.

‘What a hero! What a story! Sublime daftness on every page!’ – Jeremy Strong
